Everlasting Muffin: Fun with Familiars p1

First page of Fun with Familiars arc of Everlasting Muffin. It looks kind of similar to a page from a previous comic. A lot of Muffin comics begin with a Shift. A Shift is a sliding between realms dependent on sensing a fragment of the realm’s theme. It’s like that moment before you fall asleep but a loud noise brings you fully awake.

Shifting can be dangerous if you’re a high powered being or ESPer, because if you jerk out of it, it produces a mana/psychic backlash that tends to destroy property and cause loss of life. Muffin’s a pro at Shifting so that doesn’t happen, but other beings might not be, especially if they get startled or panic during the Shift. That’ll be an important idea later in the comic.

The fragment of the theme can be a thought or a sensation, a melody or a smell, or an image. If the shifter likes the image, they shift to that realm. If not they keep looking.
